Couples who wish to be joined in the sacrament of marriage must make an appointment with a priest. They need to be members of the parish or they must have the approval of their home parish. The couples are also required to take a pre-marital course and provide a baptismal certificate from the Church where they were baptized. This certificate should be no older than SIX (6) months prior to the scheduled wedding date. Those who are planning to be married outside of Canada or outside of the parish should contact the priest in order to receive approval from the diocese. These Marriage documents are then ‘transferred’ to the Parish of marriage in the other country via the Chancery offices of the respective Dioceses involved.
Pre-marital courses are organized twice a year, at the end of October and in February. The classes are held in the evenings and comprise of 7 meetings. The exact dates are given in the bulletin.
