Communication for St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, Mississauga

April 21, 2021

Dear parishioners of St. Maximilian Kobe Parish:

I would like to thank all parishioners for their assistance in helping us to implement health and safety protocols during this period of the pandemic. Thank you for your patience as we work through these challenging days.

Over the past 24 hours, we have learned that a member of our pastoral staff has been exposed to a contact who has tested positive for Covid-19. Our team fine at this time but is in a period of self-isolation. Both the Archdiocese of Toronto and Peel Public Health are aware of the situation.

Out of an abundance of caution, we have been asked, both priests and our staff to remain home at this time. All will be taking additional precautions to maintain distance from others and limit interaction as much as possible. For this reason, the parish office will remain closed until April 27th 2021 and will re-open on April 28th 2021.

It has been determined that the case presents a low risk of transmission. At this time, we ask that all parishioners continue to self-monitor for symptoms. As we have said in the past, if you are not feeling well or experiencing Covid-19 symptoms, please do not come to church, connect with your family doctor or consider getting tested for Covid-19.

A self-assessment tool can be found by visiting: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/self-assessment/.  Peel Public Health is operating a call centre dedicated to only COVID-19 enquiries, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Call 905-799-7700 if you have any questions.

In addition we want to inform all parishioners that Masses will continue to be celebrated by visiting priests, but this Sunday there will be no communion distributed due to the lack of priests able to assist with the distribution. We will return to normal by next Sunday. Similarly, confessions will resume next week. We apologize for the sad news.

We will share any relevant updates as necessary. Thank you for your continued co-operation as we pray for all those who are sick and those who are caring for them.

May God bless you and your loved ones.
